GoldStar Semiconductor was formed in
1979 as a joint venture of Korean electronics giant, GoldStar, and the
communications giant AT&T (AT&T sold it share back to GoldStar in 1994).
GoldStar focused on digital switching systems, transmission equipment, and
communication devices. GoldStar Semiconductor also was a second-source producer
for logic chips, memory devices, and more advanced chips such as
microprocessors.
