Fairchild Semiconductor Founded, in 1959, by Fairchild General Manager, Ed Baldwin and other Fairchild employees. Rheem Semiconductor was subsidiary of Rheem Manufacturing. Raytheon Semiconductor In 1961, Raytheon acquired the struggling Rheem Semiconductor from Rheem Manufacturing.

Rheem Semiconductor produced transistors and diodes. Rheem struggled due to lawsuits from Fairchild over stolen process trade secrets. Rheem never stabilized and was sold to Raytheon.
